IF YOU LOVE YOUR WORK, YOU WILL NEVER WORK A SINGLE DAY OF YOUR LIFE.

Very often, Captured creatives gather their creative energies to spearhead storytelling projects which push boundaries.  These passion projects may not pay the bills, but they definitely keep us sane.

Passion Project 2014 / 2015

ISLAND NATION is a two-year-long documentary project that tells the stories of people who once lived on the islands south of mainland Singapore. Through multimedia, photos and essays, the CAPTURED team raced against time to uncover a chapter in history that few Singaporeans know about.

CONTRARY TO POPULAR BELIEF, THE ISLAND NATION KNOWN AS SINGAPORE IS NOT ONE ISLAND, BUT COMPRISED OF MORE THAN 60 ISLANDS AT ONE POINT IN TIME.

As the young nation progressed economically, many of these islands were zoned for utilitarian purposes. The islanders had to abandon their old ways of life and relocate to mainland Singapore.

Island Nation aims to capture this living history and weave it into the broader native of Singapore’s nationhood.

Passion Project 2013

CAPTURED was approached by the organising committee of the National Day Parade 2013, to manage an editorial team made up of full-time National Service men to create a series called Our Stories. Every week, we uncovered an extraordinary story about an ordinary Singaporean, leading up the celebrations of the nation's 49th year of independence.

This is a trailer that showcases the stories of average Singaporeans whose extraordinary lives paint the picture of being "Singaporean". These stories were feature in the National Day Parade 2013 official website.

"More Than Enough" is a simple documentary about a mother's love and sacrifice for her daughter. The video is commissioned by the National Day Parade Committee to feature stories of everyday Singaporeans.

BEYOND LABELS is documentary series about six foreigners who work in Singapore. Even though they come from very different backgrounds, they share much common ground with Singaporeans. Just like us, they are sons and daughters to someone, best friends to someone, and brothers and sisters to someone.

Just like us, they dream of a better life, work hard, and hope for the best. This multimedia project invites the viewers look at the similarities instead of magnifying the differences. In switching lenses, we enable ourselves to see "beyond labels", to see a bigger picture of the globalised world today.
